About Lucille's Laval
Walk through the parking lot on Daniel-Johnson and you'll think you've made a wrong turn — strip mall sprawl, big signage, that generic suburban hum that makes you question every life choice that led you here. But push inside and the noise hits right: clattering plates, a packed bar, tables of six and eight laughing too loud over shared platters, the smell of charred meat and caramelized glaze drifting from the kitchen. The room runs big and open with enough dark wood and warm lighting to keep it from feeling like a cafeteria, and when summer hits, that terrace with a cold beer and a breeze cutting through Laval's thick humidity is genuinely hard to beat. It's a chain, and it wears that fact honestly, which is more than you can say for a lot of places out here pretending to be something they're not. The menu sprawls wide enough that nobody at your table gets stranded — steak lovers, the friend who went vegetarian last month, the kid who only eats fries — and the portions actually respect you. Cocktails are fine but forgettable, so stick with the beer list, which shows surprising range and pairs better with the food anyway. Service moves fast and loose in the best sense, the kind of crew used to wrangling big groups on a Friday without breaking a sweat. Book ahead for weekend nights unless you enjoy staring at your phone in a crowded lobby, and make sure somebody at the table orders the ribs.
