Big, flat resort sprawled right on Mission Bay — the kind of place where you can smell sunscreen and hear jet skis from your balcony. Rooms are clean and contemporary enough, nothing that'll blow your mind, but the pool deck and waterfront access do the heavy lifting. It's a solid base if you want to be near the beach without paying La Jolla prices, though the 4.1 rating tells you service can be hit or miss. Ask for a bay-facing room on an upper floor or don't bother.
